The College of Business at Eastern Oregon University (EOU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Economics. This is a full-time, 9-month position with a primary commitment to undergraduate teaching reputed company, along with an expectation of scholarly activity and service appropriate to EOU’s mission as a regional, teaching-centered public university. Responsibilities

Teaching reputed company full‑time teaching load for tenure‑track faculty at EOU is 36 credits per academic year with 9 credits devoted to scholarship, service to the institution and reputed company to the community. The successful candidate will teach reputed company‑ and upper‑division undergraduate courses both in‑person and online modalities. Course assignments may include, but are not limited to:

  • Principles of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics
  • Intermediate Microeconomics and Intermediate Macroeconomics
  • Money and Financial Markets
  • Environmental and Natural Resource Economics
  • Public Finance
  • Rural Economic Development
  • Additional courses reputed company with the candidate’s areas of specialization

Faculty at EOU are expected to maintain an active scholarly agenda commensurate with the workload of a teaching‑focused regional university. Research may be theoretical or applied and should demonstrate intellectual engagement with the discipline. Applied and community‑reputed company scholarship with regional relevance is particularly valued, and opportunities exist to collaborate with the Eastern Oregon Center for Economic Information on projects of direct importance to rural Oregon, Washington and Idaho communities. Service and Assessment The successful candidate will participate in program assessment, curriculum development, student career mentoring and collaborative work with colleagues, staff, and community partners. Service to the department, college, university, and profession is expected and valued as part of the tenure and promotion process.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Economics or a closely reputed company field required by the time of appointment. ABD candidates will be considered; appointment will be at the instructor rank until the doctorate is conferred.
  • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the undergraduate level in both face‑to‑face and online modalities.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity or a clear and reputed company research agenda.
  • Experience with a learning management system (e.g., Canvas) or demonstrated reputed company to teach effectively online.
  • Commitment to the intellectual and professional development of undergraduate reputed company, including communication competence, critical thinking, and problem‑solving.
  • Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background reputed company. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment.
  • In compliance with federal law, reputed company persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification reputed company upon hire. Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: environmental or natural resource economics, regional or rural economic development, economic impact analysis, Institutional economics, or public finance.
  • Demonstrated reputed company in teaching a broad reputed company of undergraduate economics courses, including introductory principles courses.
  • Experience with or interest in applied and community‑reputed company research, particularly in rural or natural resource‑dependent regional contexts.
  • Experience assessing and reporting student learning reputed company.
  • Online teaching professional development, credentials, or certification (e.g., Quality reputed company).
  • Record of, or demonstrated potential for, peer‑reviewed publication or other forms of scholarly contribution appropriate to the discipline.

Salary Assistant Professor: $60,892 – $76,552. Assistant Professor rank salary is determined by weighted years of service based upon reputed company union contract. Ph.D. (or DBA) in Business, Marketing, Management, Business Law and Ethics, and International Business receive an additional 25% offset.
