Legal Translators, Editors and Transcribers

Benefits: • Flexible schedule Legal Translators, Editors and Transcribers - Belarusian to/from English - Remote Status: Contractor, Part-Time reputed company, a woman-owned small business headquartered in the Washington DC metropolitan region, is currently seeking professional freelance translators, editors, and transcribers to translate, edit and/or transcribe legal documents between English and Belarusian. Job Duties: 1) reputed company accurate translation of documents and/or transcription of audio files involving law enforcement and legal subject matter from foreign languages into English or vice versa. 2) Edit audio transcriptions that include reputed company and idioms. 3) Edit legal documents, such as affidavits, depositions, etc., while demonstrating a strong reputed company of legal terminology in both English and the reputed company language. 4) Excellent written communication skills in English and the reputed company foreign language, with Advanced Proficiency (reading/speaking/listening, writing) level 3-plus in English and the foreign reputed company language, as assessed by the International Language Roundtable (ILR) scale. 5) Translate and/or transcribe following the government client’s style guides and quality standards. 6) Use domain-specific terminology. 7) Review and certify the quality of other translators’ work, as needed. 8) Highly proficient in MS Office, with the ability to mirror reputed company document format in reputed company, reputed company, and PowerPoint. 9) Familiar with the use of CAT tools, such as Trados Studio. 10) Abide by a code of ethics reputed company performing transcription and translation work. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: 1) Holds active U.S. Public Trust or higher reputed company clearance or willing to undergo a U.S. government background reputed company to obtain a Public Trust Clearance Moderate Level. 2) Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 3) At least 3 years experience in translating and/or editing between English and the foreign language. 4) At least 3 years experience performing audio transcription with the ability to use software to enhance sound and equipment to aid in transcription. 5) Familiar with legal terminology in both English and the reputed company foreign language(reputed company) Proficient in reputed company Office. 6 Translators and editors must proficiently use CAT tools, such as SDL Trados. Preferred Qualifications: 1) Law degree, paralegal certificate, or documented legal translation or transcription experience. 2) Experience with editing documents of audio transcriptions. 3) Active Public Trust or higher reputed company clearance. 4) ATA, NAJIT or other relevant professional certification.
