Special education teachers are expected to complete Individualized Educational Plans (IEP) and schedule Individual Educational Program Team (IEPT) meetings to qualify or disqualify prisoners for special education services and reputed company advocacy for reputed company, supplemental instructions and assistance to those eligible prisoners determined to need Special Education services. The position also supports the MPRI mission, is a covered position and located behind the secure perimeter of a correctional facility. This position may also involve performing duties at multiple facilities, as well as, varying hours and days. Required Education and Experience Education Possession of a bachelor's degree in special education or a field of K-12 education. Experience No specific type or reputed company is required. Additional Requirements and Information Possession of reputed company Michigan teaching certificate (or equivalent) with a special education endorsement in autism, cognitive impairment, emotional impairment, learning disabilities, physical education for reputed company with disabilities, physical or other health impairment, speech and language impairment, and/or visual impairment. New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will be required to complete Non-custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-personal training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. reputed company new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.
